Assessment Event 1  will be on Creating Surfaced models using 3DFACE, TABSURF, RULESURF, REVSURF & EDGESURF & 3DMESH.with 3DPOLY lines, Setting the system variables SURFTAB1, SURFTAB2, SPLINETYPE, SURFTYPE, SURFU & SURFV, Using PEDIT on lines & surfaces.

BELOW  IS  A  SAMPLE  ASSESSMENT  EVENT  I   TEST

Time allowed 1 hour 30 minutes with 15 minutes reading time.  Questions are of equal value.
    Question 1
Construct a surfaced pentagonal prism with pentagon OD (Inscribed in a circle of diameter) 200mm and height 250mm.
    Question 2
Draw a transition piece, round to square.  The square has side 400mm, the round has diameter 300mm, and they are parallel, on the same axis and 500mm apart.
    Question 3
Use 3DMESH (6x6 mesh)  to construct the outer surface of bird bath.  The bath has dimensions 300mm square, and is a rounded trough 120mm deep, with a perch in the centre 60mm square.  Use PEDIT smoothing.

 Assessment Event 2  (10 June 1999)

Creating Models using the solid modeller.
Sample exam question for 30 marks.   Draw a spoked wheel.  The hub is a cylinder OD150mm, ID 100mm, 150mm long.  The tyre is a hoop, OD 1.8meters, 100mm wide, 10 mm thick.  The 30 spokes are cylinders 10 mm in diameter.

Preparing to plot - Use Frozen Viewports in PS, Dimensioning on frozen VPort layers, to industry standatd.
This examination will be set on application.  Either apply on campus or email me to request available times.
