MANUFACTURING TCF COURSE INFORMATION
This course is designed for people working in the fabric wholesale & retail fields who wish to gain a basic knowledge on fabric properties to assist in selecting & specifying fabric for customer needs. Subjects are:
TEXTILE PRODUCTION
This course will allow you to acquire and apply competencies required for safe, effective work practice in the textile production industry as operators in one of the following areas : topmaking, textile printing, non woven, dyeing, hosiery, knitting, spinning, tufting or weaving sectors. It will enable you to assist in the manufacturing process. The course offers the opportunity to mix on-the-job and off-the-job training so you will gain an understanding of the various operations and principles used in your work place.
The course offers study at the levels of certificate 1 or 2 for operator training and certificate 3 for supervisors or people assisting the work of others in their department. Course subjects consist of compulsory, compulsory technical and elective modules in your company's area of production.
It is planned to run this course in the factory environment if sufficient students are available at one location.
FABRIC CARE
This course offers study in two fields of textile care, Dry cleaning and Laundry. Both of these courses offer traineeships and part-time (evening) class times. For further information contact David Ellis, Head Teacher, on 02-92173990 or fax 02-92174009.
DRY CLEANING
The Dry cleaning course offers study in the care and cleaning of textiles in Certificates 1, 2 and 3.
Certificates 1 and 2 are operator level certificates ensuring that the student will be able to operate all types of equipment found in a dry cleaning plant and have the technical understanding as well as the practical skills required.
Certificates 1 and 2 are currently being run on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6 till 9 pm.
The traineeship in Certificate 2 is currently being run on Wednesdays from 9.30 am till 5 pm, and requires the student to be an indentured trainee with his/her employer prior to enrollment. This course can be done provided that the student fulfills the criteria required for the traineeship program. Certificate 3 is currently being run on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and is designed for students who have successfully completed Certificate 2 or have equivalent industry experience and wish to progress to supervisory / management positions as well as further hone their practical and theory knowledge at a higher level.
